CAMWorks Automatic Feature Recognition analyzes the part shape and attempts to define most common machinable features such as pockets, holes, slots and bosses. Depending on the complexity of the part, AFR can save considerable time in defining two-dimensional prismatic features. SolidCAM Automatic Feature Recognition and Machining can recognizes three types of features: pockets, chamfers and holes. Instead of machining each individual pocket in a separate operation, pocket recognition automatically parses the CAD model looking for all features that are identified as “Pockets”: open, closed and through pockets. For chamfer, SOLIDCAM provides a very powerful capability to automatically chamfer the edges of a model, without having to manually pick all the chains and apply chamfer to them.
